    Jesus Rocks: An Experiment

    An Exercise:

Are you experiencing or feeling any of the following: bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, or resentment? Do you feel tired, over-burdened, overworked, or “heavy”?

    Try this-

    1. Find 5-10 small rocks, stones, or marbles.
    2. Place one in your hand and squeeze as hard as you can for 1-2 minutes.
    3. Now place another rock in that same hand, and again squeeze for 1-2 min.
    4. Continue to place more rocks in your hand until your hand is full and squeeze for 1-2 minutes.

What happens? How do you feel?

    • Did your hand begin to ache?
    • Did your wrist hurt?
    • Did pain travel up your arm?
    • Did you begin to breathe heavier?
    • Did you start to sweat?
    • Could you concentrate on anything else?
    • Did the rest of your body feel tense?

    5.  Now, let go of all the rocks.

This is what happens to our spirits and our bodies when we refuse to let go and hold fast to bitterness, anger, resentment, etc. We feel it everywhere!

The Bible says that Jesus has come to “bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair” (Isaiah 61:3).

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
